The Potential Rescheduling of Cannabis: What It Means for Consumers, Brands, and Dispensaries

The Potential Rescheduling of Cannabis: What It Means for Consumers, Brands, and Dispensaries

The conversation around cannabis has been heating up again as policy makers weigh the potential rescheduling of cannabis under federal law. For years, cannabis has remained a Schedule I controlled substance, which places it in a category reserved for substances with “no accepted medical use.” This classification has created barriers not only for consumers and patients but also for brands, dispensaries, and the cannabis industry as a whole.

If changes at the federal level move forward, the benefits could ripple across nearly every facet of cannabis culture, wellness, and commerce. Let’s explore what this could mean for consumers, businesses, and the broader health landscape.

Rescheduling: What Does It Mean?

Rescheduling cannabis would mean moving it from a Schedule I to a less restrictive schedule schedule within the Controlled Substances Act. While this wouldn’t equate to nationwide legalization, it would acknowledge cannabis as possessing recognized medical uses and would allow for more research, regulation, and standardization in the industry.

This acknowledgement could transform the way dispensaries like NatureMed serve patients recreational consumers, offering more clarity and legitimacy to a sector that has often operated under complex and conflicting state and federal guidelines,

The Benefits for You

For consumers, the rescheduling of cannabis could be game-changing. Not only could it increase access to higher-quality, lab-tested cannabis products, but it could also spur insurance companies and healthcare providers to consider cannabis in treatment plans.

Rescheduling could also pave the way for safer, more consistent product standards nationwide. This means patients and adult-use consumers would benefit from a more transparent and standardized market, helping reduce misinformation and stigma.

The Impact on Brands

For brands, rescheduling represents an opportunity for innovation, research, and wider distribution. Currently, strict regulations prevent many cannabis companies from accessing traditional banking, interstate commerce opportunities, or mainstream advertising.

If cannabis moves to a lower schedule, it could open doors to national partnerships, allow for stronger product innovation, and foster a competitive yet balanced marketplace. Brands that have focused on quality, education, and consumer trust (like those carried at NatureMed) would stand to thrive in a more open environment.

Opportunities for Dispensaries

Dispensaries, too, would feel a significant positive impact. At present, taxes on cannabis businesses are uniquely burdensome, especially under the current IRS 280E rule, which prevents cannabis companies from claiming normal business deductions. Rescheduling would give dispensaries greater financial stability, allowing them to reinvest in staff, customer experience, and community engagement.

For trusted dispensaries like NatureMed, this change could mean even better pricing, expanded product offerings, and enhanced consumer education, strengthening our role as a cornerstone of wellness in the local community.

A Healthier Research Landscape

Perhaps one of the most profound benefits would be in the realm of research. Currently, cannabis research is constrained by federal barriers, leaving patients and doctors with limited authoritative information. With rescheduling, universities, medical institutions, and scientists could conduct broader studies, providing clearer answers about cannabis’s role in pain management, mental health support, and chronic condition treatment.

The outcome? A more evidence-based, trustworthy pathway for consumers looking to incorporate cannabis into their wellness routines.

Looking Toward a More Inclusive Future

Rescheduling cannabis isn’t just about policy, it’s about creating a more accessible, fair, and safe cannabis market for all. From patients relying on consistent access to brands eager to innovate, to dispensaries like NatureMed building community trust, the potential benefits are far-reaching.

At NatureMed, we are excited about the possibilities this shift could bring and remain committed to offering top-quality cannabis products, daily deals, and an exceptional customer experience no matter what changes come.

And That’s Show Biz, Baby: The Unofficial Guide to Pairing Strains with Taylor Swift’s New Tracks

And That's Show Biz, Baby: The Unofficial Guide to Pairing Strains with Taylor Swift's New Tracks

Taylor Swift is about to drop The Life of a Showgirland we already know it’s going to have us twirling our feather boas and shedding a few glittery tears. Since the music isn’t here yet, we’re doing the next best thing! We’re pairing the vibes of her upcoming track list with cannabis strains you can find right here at NatureMed dispensaries. From glittery hybrids to sensual gummies, we’ve got the perfect match for every move. And don’t worry, once the album officially lands, we’ll update with even more curated cannabis pairings.

The Life of a Showgirl ft. Sabrina Carpenter = Glitter Bomb by Royal

This title track is destined to be the centerpiece of the album. Sparkly, bold, and impossible to ignore! That’s why we’re pairing it with Glitter Bomb by Royal. Bursting with fruity terpenes and an uplifting euphoric high, it’s a hybrid that shines as bright as the Vegas stage. Perfect for when you want to feel like the star of the show.

Three orange glittery vinyl records with a purple "Vlasic Labs" flower minis container placed vertically on top of the middle record. Text at the top of the image reads "WILBUR'S GELATO BY VLASIC LABS + ELDEST DAUGHTER".

Honey = Honeybee Live Rosin Gummies

Taylor naming a track Honey tells us it’s going to be slow, sweet, and a little sensual. Our pick? Honeybee Live Rosin Gummies. These melt-in-your-mouth treats deliver full-spectrum flavor and a cozy, body-soothing high. With relaxing terpenes that lead toward linalool and myrcene, they’re perfect for a night of intimacy or just indulging in some sweetness solo.

Actually Romantic = Blueberry Cupcake by Vertical

We’re betting this one is playful and cheeky, leaning into romance with a wink. Blueberry Cupcake by Vertical brings the perfect pairing with its decadent berry-and-cream flavor profile. Rich in myrcene and limonene, this flower delivery a smooth, relaxing high that sets the stage for candlelit conversations, cozy cuddles, and, well, actually being romantic.

Three orange glittery vinyl records with a yellow and orange "Timeless" brand vape cartridge placed vertically on top of the middle record. Text at the top of the image reads "STRAWBERRY COUGH BY TIMELESS + THE FATE OF OPHELIA"

The Fate of Ophelia = Strawberry Cough by Timeless

Shakespeare fans (and Swifties) already know this one: Ophelia’s story in Hamlet is tragic, poetic, and unforgettable. We’re expecting the track to feel like a haunting ballad, and Strawberry Cough by Timeless captures that vibe beautifully. With its sweet strawberry flavor and uplifting cerebral effects, this vape blends melancholy and light, helping you float through the drama with creativity and clarity. Pinene in its terpene mix adds a refreshing edge, like a breath of crisp night air on a misty stage.

Eldest Daughter = Wilbur’s Gelato by Vlasic Labs

If you know you know. Track 5’s are sacred. It’s where Taylor cuts the deepest. Eldest Daughter sounds like it’ll be raw, emotional, and gut-wrenching and is a ballad about carrying burdens no one else sees. Wilbur’s Gelato by Vlasic Labs is our match for that intensity. Its terpene profile balances myrcene’s grounding calm with limonene’s lift, making it the kind of strain that helps you process the heavy stuff while still finding moments of light. This one’s best paired with tissues, journals, and maybe a light-night heart-to-heart.

Three orange glittery vinyl records with a white "Royal" brand vape cartridge placed vertically on top of the middle record. Text at the top of the image reads "GLITTER BOMB BY ROYAL + THE LIFE OF A SHOWGIRL FT. SABRINA CARPTENER".

CANCELLED! = Super Boof by Vivid

This track is probably the boldest moment on the album, unapologetic, brash, and loud. Pair it with Super Boof by Vivid, a hybrid that is just as commanding. Known for its rich, earthy flavor and strong euphoric effect, Super Boof takes up space and refuses to apologize for it. It is the perfect strain for when you are leaning into that zero-regrets energy.

Setting the Stage at NatureMed

From glittery hybrids to heartstring-tugging strains, these cannabis pairings are the perfect way to set the scene for Taylor’s Showgirl era. Once the album drops, we will be back with more curated sesh recommendations.

For now, stop by your nearest NatureMed dispensary, check out our daily deals, and browse the full menu to find your perfect pairing. Every showgirl deserves a little sparkle!

No More Double Taxes on Cannabis? What That Means for You

No More Double Taxes on Cannabis? Here's What That Means for You

If you’ve bought cannabis in Missouri lately, you might have noticed that your total seemed a little higher than the state’s 6% cannabis sales tax would explain. That’s because many cities were adding their own local sales tax on top of the 6%, creating what many called a “double tax.” But thanks to a recent Missouri Supreme Court ruling, that extra layer has officially gone up in smoke.

image of a cannabis flower plant

What Changed?

When Missouri legalized adult-use cannabis, the law allowed a 6% statewide tax and gave cities the option to add a local tax. Some local governments interpreted that as permission to stack a second sales tax on the same purchase, essentially taxing customers twice. The court’s ruling clarified that this was never the intent. Which means from now on, customers will only pay one local tax in addition to the state cannabis tax.

Why This is Big News for Your Wallet

While it might sound like a small percentage change, cannabis purchases add up. On a $100 dispensary visit, the old double-tax setup could easily add several extra dollars to your total. Now, with the “tax on a tax” gone, you’re keeping more of your hard-earned green, and possibly turning that into more actual green (flower, anyone?).

image of a cannabis nug sitting on a dark surface with a dark background

A Win for Fairness

Beyond the savings, this ruling is about fairness and clarity. Cannabis shoppers shouldn’t need a calculator and a legal dictionary just to figure out what they owe. By simplifying the tax structure, Missouri is making it easier for customers to trust the system, and for the cannabis industry to grow without unnecessary financial roadblocks.

More Cannabis, Less Confusion

So next time you stop by NatureMed, check your receipt and enjoy the fact that there’s one less number inflating your total. Who knows? Maybe that little extra cash will inspire you to try a new edible flavor or upgrade your pre-roll to a top-shelf option.

Want to stretch those tax savings even further? Browse our daily deals page and explore our full menu for fresh discounts on flower, concentrates, edibles, and more. We’ll help you make the most of every dollar — and every puff.

image of a person's hand holding a pile of orange cannabis gummies

What is ate one and where did it come from?

The name Ate One is a fun play on the date 8/1, which sounds like “ate one.” Get it!? It’s a nod to cannabis edibles and the moment you ate one and started the ride. While it started as an internet joke in cannabis circles, the concept caught on quickly. Now, edibles lovers everywhere recognize August 1st as a day to celebrate their favorite way to consume cannabis.

Unlike 420 or 710, which focus more on smoking and dabbing, Ate One is completely about eating your cannabis. It’s a celebration of how delicious and create the cannabis edible scene has become, from handcrafted gourmet chocolates to fast-acting nano gummies. If you’ve ever popped a gummy and waited for the magic to kick in, this is your holiday.

How to Celebrate Ate One

There’s no official playbook for celebrating Ate One, which is exactly what makes it so fun. Whether you’re vibing solo or hanging with friends, the goal is simple: eat one (or a few), and enjoy.

Here are some easy ways to celebrate:

  • Try a new edible you’ve never had before, like an infused soda or cannabis butter
  • Have an edible tasting night with different doses, flavors, or brands
  • Bake your own edibles if you’re feeling creative in the kitchen
  • Pair your edible with a cozy movie night or outdoor picnic
  • Document your edible experience with a chill journaling session or video diary

what to look for in edibles

Not all edibles are created equal, which is why it’s important to find the right type and dose for your vibe. At NatureMed, we carry a wide variety of THC edibles including:

  • Low-dose gummies for beginners or daytime microdosing
  • High-dosed baked goods for a long-lasting full-body high
  • Fast-acting drinks for those who want quicker effects
  • Chocolates and caramels that taste amazing and hit smooth

When shopping for edibles, always check the THC and CBD content, onset time, and serving size. Whether you prefer to feel mellow and floaty or just want to giggle through your group chat, there’s an edible for every type of high.

why ate one matters

Edibles have come a long way from the mystery brownies of the past. Today’s products are lab-tested, consistent, and way more delicious than they used to be. Ate one is a chance to celebrate how far edibles have evolved, support your favorite local brands, and share your love for cannabis in a fun, food-focused way.

It’s also a great time to learn more about your personal tolerance, explore different effects from various strains in edible form, and see how cannabis fits into your lifestyle in a totally new way.

High & Hungry: Weird Munchie Combos That Slap

High & Hungry: Weird Munchie Combos That Slap

When the munchies hit, your snack game either steps up or spirals into chaos in the best way. This post is your permission slip to get weird in the kitchen. If you’re feeling adventurous next time you light up, here are some unexpected snack combos that somehow taste amazing when you’re high. Don’t knock them until you try them!

Try: Hot Cheetos and Cream Cheese

You can dip straight into the tub or go full snack chef and spread the cream cheese onto a tortilla, add a handful of Hot Cheetos, roll it up, and you have an instant flavor bomb.

image of various small bags of snacks behind a gated enclosure

Try: Pickles and Peanut Butter

This one might sound cursed, but it’s actually the perfect balance of salty, sour, and nutty. The crunch o the pickle with the creamy, slightly sweet peanut butter is a surprise win. Bonus points if you use cold dill pickles straight out of the jar.

Try: Ice Cream and Potato Chips

Grab a spoonful of vanilla ice cream and press it into a salty, crunchy potato chip. It’s messy, salty-sweet perfection. If you’ve got chocolate chips or pretzels nearby, throw those in too. You’re building a snack masterpiece here.

image of a table with a blue striped table cloth with various snacks sitting on the table and a plate. a deck of uno cards sits next to the plate of snacks. there is a hand reaching for some of the snacks.

Try: Microwave S’mores with Doritos

Stay with us. Make a basic s’more with graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate, but swap one of the crackers for a Dorito. The result is sweet, cheesy, gooey, and totally unhinged in the best way. Try it with spicy Doritos for an extra kick.

Try: Honey Drizzle on Pizza Rolls

Warm up your pizza rolls and give them a light honey drizzle once they’re out of the microwave. It’s a sweet and savory combo that tastes like something way fancier than it is. It shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.

image of a woman with brown hair sitting on the ground outside with a bag of Doritos smiling.

When you’re high, flavor rules go out the window, and that’s what makes snack time so fun. If you’re ready to get creative in the kitchen, make sure you’re stocked up first. Check out our daily deals and browse our online menu to find the perfect strain for your next High & Hungry night in. Your taste buds will thank you. Got a weird snack combo we need to try? Drop it in the comments! We’re always down to taste-test something new.

Too Hot to Function? Chill Out with These Couch-Lock Champions

Too Hot to Function? Chill Out with These Couch-Lock Champions

Let’s face it: when it’s 98 degrees in the shade and your flip-flops are sticking to the pavement, productivity takes a backseat to pure survival. If your plans involve anything more ambitious than rotating from one side of the couch to the other, we fully support cancelling them. This is the time of year when sweat becomes a lifestyle, and relaxation is a necessity. So why not lean in with a strain that helps you sink deep into the couch, cool down, and bliss out?

image of a rolled joint sitting on a counter in front of two cannabis mugs in front of jars filled with other herbs

What Exactly Is Couch-Lock?

“Couch-lock” refers to that oh-so-lovely sensation of full-body calm that makes you want to melt into your cushions and stay there. It’s not about sedation in a negative sense. It’s more like a warm hug from the inside that tells your nervous system to take the rest of the day off. Indica strains and some hybrid powerhouses are known for delivering this effect, especially those rich in myrcene or caryophyllene, two terpenes linked to physical relaxation. Perfect for heatwave days when doing less is actually doing more.

image of a female in a white shirt holding a white and black mug with a cannabis leaf on it dipping a tea bag into the mug

Edibles and Concentrates: The Cool Companions

Not feeling like sparking anything in this heat? Totally understandable. This is where edibles and concentrates come in as your lazy-day MVPs. Try a fast-acting gummy for a mellow body high without the lighter, or opt for a dab of something heavy if you’re staying home for the day. Just remember that these forms can hit a little stronger or last longer than flower, so go slow and let the good vibes roll in naturally. Hydration and snack prep are strongly encouraged.

dark image of two blurry lit joints on a counter with a couch in focus in the background

The Art of Doing Nothing, Perfected

There’s no shame in scheduling some intentional couch time, especially when the heat index is flirting with triple digits. This summer, let your cannabis choices match your energy level (or lack thereof). Whether it’s a solo chill session or a “let’s watch five hours of nature documentaries” hangout with a friend, the right strain can turn hot-day exhaustion into peaceful bliss. Your couch misses you, and frankly, you’ve earned it.

Ready to stock up for your next chill day? Hit the menu to browse today’s top indicas and don’t forget to check the daily deals page for the best prices on your favorite couch-lock companions!

What is 710? The Cannabis Holiday You Need to Know About

What is 710? The Cannabis Holiday You Need to Know About

If you’re into cannabis concentrates, you’ve probably already circled July 10 on your calendar. But if you’re thinking, “Wait… is that like 4/20’s cousin?” You’re not wrong! Welcome to 710, the holiday that celebrates all things oil, wax, shatter, live resin, live rosin and classic hash. It’s like 4/20, but specifically for hash heads. And yes, there’s a reason it’s called 710!

image of cannabis distillate syringe on the ground outside

How 710 Got Its Start

Unlike 4/20, which has roots going all the way back to the 1970s, 710 is a more modern addition to cannabis culture. It started popping up in online forums and among concentrate connoisseurs sometime around 2011. The first official 710 event is believed to have happened in California, where early extract artists and hashmakers were already refining their craft and building a cult following.

As concentrates became more accessible and mainstream, the holiday spread like a fresh dab on a hot nail. Now, 710 is an internationally recognized celebration of extraction artistry. Events, brand drops, and concentrate competitions happen coast to coast, with dispensaries (like us!) getting in on the fun by offering epic sales on oils, waxes, shatter, and vape carts.

image of an out of focus man holding a cannabis cart and battery

Who Celebrates 710 and Why?

710 is for anyone who appreciates the art of cannabis concentrates. That means daily dabbers who love high-potency hits, vape pen fans who prefer a cleaner puff, and even the canna-curious who are just dipping their toes into the extract pool. If you’ve ever admired the glistening beauty of cured rosin or geeked out over terpene profiles, 710 is basically your version of New Year’s Eve.

It’s also a day that celebrates innovation in the industry. Extraction tech has come a long way. from sketchy homemade setups to sophisticated solventless labs producing premium full-spectrum products. Whether you’re using a handheld dab straw or a Bluetooth-enabled e-rig, you’re part of a constantly evolving community that’s pushing cannabis forward.

image of cannabis dab tool holding a dab of cannabis concentrate

How to Celebrate 710 (Without Going Too Hard)

The golden rule for any 710 sesh? Start low and go slow. Concentrates are potent by design (some clock in at 80 to 90 percent THC) so it’s totally okay to take baby dabs and savor the experience. A well-timed hit from a live resin cart or a flavorful terp-heavy dab can be just the thing to elevate your day without overdoing it.

Whether you’re kicking back solo or celebrating with your crew, the best way to enjoy 710 is with your favorite products and a chill vibe. Throw on a good playlist, crack open a cold drink, and treat it like the cannabis appreciation day it is. Bonus points if you support local by grabbing your goodies from your neighborhood dispensary.

Ready to Celebrate? NatureMed Has Your 710 Covered

We’re rolling out seriously fire deals this week to help you stock up for 710 without breaking the bank. Whether you’re looking for concentrates, vapes, or dabbing essentials, we’ve got you covered.

Head over to our daily deals page to see what’s on special and plan your sesh like a pro.

Want to browse before you swing by?

Everything You Need to Know About Resin, Rosin, and Distillate

Everything You Need to Know About Resin, Rosin, and Distillate

July 10th (aka 7/10) is almost here, and if you flip those numbers upside down, you’ll see why we’re celebrating. Yep, it spells “OIL,” and this unofficial holiday is all about honoring the potent, flavorful world of cannabis concentrates. From resin to rosin to distillate and everything in between, we’re breaking down what makes each of these extracts unique, and helping you find the one that fits your vibe.

Live Resin vs Cured Resin: Let’s Talk Terps

Live resin and cured resin are both hydrocarbon extracts, which means they’re made using solvents (usually butane or propane) to pull cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant. The key difference? Live resin is made from fresh-frozen cannabis, while cured resin uses flower that’s been dried and cured. Live resin tends to have bolder, more vibrant flavor profiles because freezing the plant right after harvest helps preserve those delicate terpenes. Cured resin still packs a punch but usually leans more on potency than flavor.

still image of golden cannabis concentrate on a white shiny background

Rosin: The Solventless Sweetheart

If you’re into a clean, solvent-free experience, rosin might be your go-to. Rosin is made by applying heat and pressure to flower, kief, or hash to “squish” out the oil, no solvents needed. Live rosin (which comes from fresh-frozen material) is the premium version. It’s super flavorful and smooth. Regular hash rosin or flower rosin might be a little less intense on flavor, but still offers a clean, terp-heavy high. Rosin is a favorite among purists who want full-spectrum effects without any added chemicals.

Distillate: Pure Potency, No Frills

Distillate is a super refined cannabis extract that strips away almost everything except THC (or CBD, depending on the goal). It’s not known for flavor or aroma, but it’s great for getting high without the extra fluff. That’s why distillate is the go-to for edibles, vape cartridges, and anyone who just wants a strong and straightforward hit. If you want max potency with minimal taste or smell, distillate’s your best friend.

image of a cannabis concentrate jar on a grassy area with a hand holding a black hot knife that has a scoop of the golden cannabis concentrate hanging off. another cannabis smoking device can be seen in the background.

Badder, Budder, and Sugar: Texture Talk

Now let’s get into the fun textures. These are usually hydrocarbon extracts like resin, but whipped or processed in a way that changes the consistency. Badder and budder are creamy, almost like cake frosting, and super easy to dab. Sugar looks like wet brown sugar, with a mix of THCa crystals and terp sauce. They’re all about the balance of flavor and potency, and if you love dabbing or loading your vape with something that smells amazing, these are it.

Diamonds and Sauce: High-End Dabs

You’ve probably seen those chunky, glistening THCa diamonds floating in amber sauce. This is the fancy stuff. Diamonds are pure THCa crystals (which convert to THC when heated), and the sauce is loaded with terpenes. Together, they give you a super flavorful, hard-hitting experience. Some blends are heavier on diamonds, others have more sauce. It’s really about what kind of high you’re chasing.

How to Pick What’s Right for You

If you’re new to concentrates, all these options might feel overwhelming. Think about what matters most: flavor, strength, smoothness, or how it was made. Want full flavor and a clean, solventless hit? Try live rosin. Need something affordable and effective for your pen? Distillate carts are a good entry point. Love tasting every terp? Grab some live resin sugar or budder. It’s okay to experiment until you find your fave.

Celebrate 7/10 With Your Favorite Extracts

Supporting Our Neighbors: Tornado Relief Drive

Supporting Our Neighbors: Tornado Relief Drive

On May 16, a tornado swept through northern St. Louis, causing serious damage and leaving many families without basic necessities. It was one of those moments that shakes a community, but also reminds us how strong that community can be. At NatureMed, we’re doing what we can to help support our neighbors through it.

We’ve partnered with Love the Lou, a St. Louis organization working directly with families impacted by the tornado. Their team is focused on delivering real support, fast by getting essential supplies into the hands of people who need them most.

What We’re Collecting

If you’re planning to visit one of our STL stores, we encourage you to bring a few extra items with you to donate. Here’s what we’re collecting:

Food and Drinks

  • Bottled water & electrolyte drinks
  • Non-perishable food items like peanut butter, jelly, & canned goods

Everyday Essentials

  • Toiletries (toilet paper, soap, toothbrush/paste)
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Towels, clean clothing, adult diapers
  • Items for children (formula, diapers, toys)

Household & Repair Supplies

  • Trash bags, zip-lock & lawn bags
  • Packing tape, duct tape, & Flex Seal
  • Tarps & nails
  • Flashlights, headlamps, & batteries

Why It Matters

When natural disasters hit, many people are left without basic necessities for days or even weeks. The tornadoes that came through Missouri were no exception. In moment’s like this, small businesses have the power to step up in a big way. For us, that means showing up for the STL community the same way it’s always shown up for us.

We believe that being part of a community means showing up when it’s needed most. Whether you’re able to bring one item or ten, just being part of this effort means a lot. It’s the little things that help people feel seen supported, and not alone.

From Our STL Team

This drive was started by one of our own, Kyra Derington, who experienced the storm’s impact firsthand. Here’s what she shared about the day the tornado hit and what inspired her to take action:

On May 16, I got a call from the local police saying a tree in my front yard fell on my house. As I rushed home in panic, I shortly realized I was one of the lucky ones. As more pictures and information about the devastation across North County were posted, my heart broke. Some families lost everything in an instant. I knew we had to do something. Launching the tornado relief drive at NatureMed wasn’t just about collecting supplies, it was about standing beside our community in a moment of deep need. Watching everyone come together so quickly reminded me how powerful compassion can be when we choose to act.

Since launching our tornado relief drive, over 1,347 items have been donated at our two STL stores. The response has been incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s already shown up to help.
