There is a new name on the shelf, and it comes with one of the more interesting backstories in cannabis. NatureMed is now carrying Batch by Bud & Mary’s, a science-driven brand that has spent nearly a decade building a reputation across Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, and now Missouri. We are starting with the two products Batch is best known for: 2g all-in-one disposables and 2g 510 cartridges, available in ten strain-specific options between them.
The Story Behind the Name
Bud and Mary are real people. Bud and Mary Nelson were Iowa entrepreneurs who founded Kemin Industries in 1961 out of a vacant wool barn outside Des Moines with $10,000 in savings. Their first product was a silage preservative that helped farmers protect their crops. Bud mixed ingredients using a Maytag washer, and Mary ran operations from the kitchen table, balancing the books while raising five children. That business grew into a global plant science company serving customers in more than 120 countries.
From Plant Science to Cannabis
Their son, Dr. Chris Nelson, grew up with that same curiosity about what plants could do. In 2016 he founded MedPharm Holdings in Colorado, and the following year secured one of the first licenses in Iowa’s brand new medical cannabis program. The BATCH Signature vape line debuted in Colorado in mid-2018, and that December, MedPharm Iowa became the first operator to legally sell medical cannabis in the state. In 2022 the company unified under a single name, Bud & Mary’s, as a tribute to the parents whose values started it all.
Standards You Can Actually Verify
This is where Bud & Mary’s separates itself from a lot of the field. The company controls or directly partners on cultivation, manufacturing, formulation, packaging, and retail, which means fewer unknowns between the plant and the cart in your hand. Their production process meets cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practices) requirements, and they were the first pharmaceutical-grade cannabis company in the United States to earn a cGMP and cGACP certification. They also hold a Colorado Cannabis Research License, a first in the country, with an in-house research team supporting their formulation work.
The 2g All-In-One Disposables
The all-in-one format is ready straight out of the box, no battery or charger required. The 2g 510 Cartridges
If you already have a battery you love, the 2g cartridges are the easy pick. Juicy Melons is a refreshing melon blend that balances sweet and floral, and Shwazzberry keeps it simple with a harmonious mix of sweet berries. On the Signature side, Lemon Cookies layers bright lemon zest over sugary cookie dough with a soft vanilla finish. Tahoe OG is the bold one, mixing gas and banana custard with fruit salad and a cool spearmint edge. And Jack Herer rounds it out with sweet and sour citrus up front and a woody pine exhale.
What Is Coming Next
Batch runs an ongoing campaign called Aware-n-Us, launching a limited edition flavor each year tied to a cause. In 2025 they released Strawmelon in partnership with CanPlay to help fund all-inclusive accessible playgrounds in underserved communities. Coming in August 2026 is Lolli Pawp, a sweet cherry flavor supporting nonprofit animal rescue groups. Bud & Mary’s also has a five-pack of kief infused pre-rolls in the works, so this first drop is very likely not the last thing you will see from them on our shelves.
